I can remember all the way back, when Jesse Falcon was in the midst of pitching the line (what would become Marvel legends) to the powers-that-be. He would send me a bunch of the old fashioned 5" figures to repaint, so he could use them for the presentation. He wanted to go with a heavy deco "real world" flavor. He had the forward thinking vision all the way back then. Who knew it would change mass-market action figures forever? Well, actually, I think Jesse suspected it would, but I think his intention was to just simply make the best looking figures on the mass market.

I have had a trememndous hand in painting the Marvel Legends figures, and it was like the dream project I've always wanted. Of the characters I have always wanted to do. I know "dream come true" sounds very clichéd. But it is so true.

Now we fast forward to 2006/2007. Enter, Legendary Comic Book Heroes. A whole new arena of mass market action figures. But it has a built in loyalty. Yes, the characters are different. Yes, they aren't all as recognizable as the Marvel Universe. But they look just as good as their Marvel Legends counterparts. I always knew that Jesse would have something up his sleeve, and would find a way to recapture that "lightning in a bottle". But never in a million years, did I think I would get the chance to work on some of my most favorite non-Marvel characters (some of which are even in my "top" favorites of all time).

The premise was simple (for my part anyway, I am sure the licensing end lead to a lot of doubts and sleepless nights in the beginning), keep doing what we were doing on Marvel Legends. Utilize everything we've done, having learned what worked and what did not, and apply it to these new characters. So when Judge Dredd is standing next to Taskmaster, they look as if they belong together. What an exciting time it's been so far. Jesse has always trusted me with the Marvel characters, so it was a sign that I was doing something right when he entrusted me with these new additions to the family.
